Gatwick Airport Parking
Parking your car at Gatwick is sometimes a
necessity rather than an option. We all dislike the idea of leaving
it primarily because it costs quite a bit of money and leaving it lays it open to all sorts of risk. There are many options for parking at Gatwick;
Gatwick Park and Ride. On-airport
Gatwick Park and Ride. Off-airport
Park and ride means that you drive direct to the car park
and shuttle by bus to the airport terminal.
Park and ride has always been the cheapest option and off-airport
parking became more popular in the 70’s and 80’s as a cheaper rival to on-airport parking.
On-airport park and ride allows you to park your vehicle yourself
and you take your keys on holiday with you. Being on-airport the shuttle bus ride is relatively
short but you must allow at least 30 minutes to get to the terminal.
With off-airport park and ride your car will be parked for you and
your keys will be left with the operator. The bus ride is generally longer
so you must allow up to an hour to get to the terminal depending on the waiting and check-in time.
Please remember with any type of parking where you retain possession
of your keys that any damage caused to your vehicle in your absence there
will be no recourse to claim for the cost of repair.
Gatwick Valet Parking/
Gatwick Meet and Greet Parking
These two services are the same and only different by name. Gatwick
valet parking was introduced in the 90’s and offered the discerning and well heeled traveller
a more expensive option for leaving his car at Gatwick Airport.
The Customer drives direct to the terminal and meets the Valet
Parking representative at a convenient meeting point. The car is checked in, the paperwork
completed and the Customer is free to walk directly into the terminal. The vehicle is then taken to a secure and safe compound close to the airport. When the
Customer returns from holiday or business a quick telephone call will ensure his vehicle will return to his/her possession. A quick check of the vehicle, a signature
of passing over and the Customer is free to drive home.
As the vehicle is left in the Custody of the valet parking
operator it is their responsibility to ensure nothing happens that may cause damage to the vehicle.
This is a great service and traditionally has always come at a
premium. However, stiffer competition has ensured that prices for your valet meet and greet service
have come down considerably and in a lot of cases are comparable with park and ride.
Please beware, the valet parking industry is unregulated and is
open to rogue operators in the same way as the mini-cab industry. Choose an operator that looks
professional and moreover, has been around for many years. Don’t get misled by professional looking web sites that promise the earth and deliver nothing!
Meet and greet parking is undoubtedly the best service for those
on the move or are frequent flyers. If you fly from Gatwick just twice a month a total of
approximately 48 hours are saved in travelling time per annum.
Compare our prices for valet parking and compare them to some of the
off-airport park and riders! Not only will you save money with us you will also save
your precious time.
