YOUR GUIDE TO GATWICK PARKING

There are a number of options for parking your car at Gatwick Airport. The most important factor is that whoever looks after your vehicle is qualified to do so. We hear all kinds of stories about Airport Parking Operators and to a large extent they are true. The problem is that the industry is unregulated and seemingly, every 'Tom, Dick or Harry' can set themselves up as an operator with a few spaces in their back garden or in some cases, the local streets around Gatwick.
Something is being done however. Gatwick Airport, Trading Standards and local Councils have teamed up to legislate on the industry and hopefully, this will be implemented this year. We will keep you posted.

BELOW YOU WILL FIND A NUMBER OF OPTIONS FOR YOUR GATWICK PARKING

GATWICK VALET PARKING

Valet parking (or meet and greet parking as it is sometimes known) is hugely popular whether it is at Hotels, Exclusive Clubs or Airports. First introduced in the 1990's at Gatwick Airport it takes the hassle away from using park and ride operations as described below. On your return from holiday you call the valet parking company and they bring your vehicle to the terminal.
This is not as expensive as you think. With todays competitive market place you will find prices are only a little more than park and ride.
What is important is that you choose a valet parking operator that is appropriately licensed, has a Police Vetted Car Park and has the 'Buy with Confidence' scheme from Trading Standards.

GATWICK CHAUFFEUR PARKING
An alternative to valet parking where you drive direct to the car park. A park and ride service that gives a little 'exclusivity'. A representative will check your car in and then 'Chauffeur' you into the terminal. No buses or waiting. On your return your vehicle can be brought to the terminal or you can be picked up in a courtesy vehicle. This is a great service for first time users who want to see where their car is parked and the environment in which their car is stored for the duration of their holiday. The same criteria above applies to any company offering this service.

  PARK AND RIDE AT GATWICK
Where traditionally you park your car and hop onto a bus for the journey to the airport terminal. Moving luggage and family and possibly getting wet in the process, together with waiting for the bus to load and unload makes the journey to the airport terminal arduous and at the very least extends your overall journey time. Not the greatest of experiences especially when there are superior options available. Additionally, if you use an on-airport park and ride facility you take your keys with you. This means that if you return to discover damage to your vehicle, you have no recourse to claim for the cost of repair except on your own insurance. Not nice if you have a £500 excess.
Off-airport operations you leave your keys and is an affordable service if you don't mind the transfer time which largely depends on how far the car park is from the airport terminals.
There is no doubt that Valet Parking or Chauffeur Parking is worth every penny of the few extra pounds you pay for the service.
Park and Ride operations at Gatwick include APH, Airparks and Cophall Farm.
